In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ben Kaebe

Spaceport builder
Dr Ben Kaebe, an engineer, physicist, and data scientist, currently serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia. He is actively working towards the establishment of one of the world’s first near-equatorial spaceports in Western Australia.

Gretchen Benedix

Astro-geologist
Dr Gretchen Benedix is an astro-geologist and cosmic mineralogist using meteorites to study the solar system’s evolution. Based at the Space Science and Technology Centre at Curtin University in Western Australia, she loves interrogating meteorites to unravel the evolution of the early solar system. She also has an asteroid named for her (6579 Benedix), which will not interact with the Earth … ever. She has checked.

Mark Micire

Lunar rover engineer
Mark is a research scientist, business leader, program manager, and firefighter who has operated robots worldwide in space, disasters, and extreme environments. He was formerly the Head of Robotics for NASA Ames Research Centre and is now leading one of the design teams for Australia's first lunar rover.

Matt Woods

Astronomer
Matt is the Tour Administrator and an astronomer at Perth Observatory in Western Australia. Matt joined the Observatory’s volunteer group in 2014 and became the Observatory’s Tour Administrator in 2016. Since then, he has developed exciting events for the public and promoted astronomy and astronomical events through the media. As an astronomer, he has helped define the shape of the asteroids Patroclus and Menelaus for NASA’s Lucy Mission and live streamed six eclipses for TimeAndDate.com.
