In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aidan Manning

Aidan Manning is a sophomore at Chatham High School. Aidan is involved with soccer and has been for as long as she can remember. As a social butterfly, Aidan is very outgoing and loves to connect with people. You’ll usually find her out with her friends or watching Modern Family with her sisters. Aidan is very interested in psychology and strives to make a positive impact on the people she’s surrounded by. Aidan’s always taking initiative and creating new opportunities for herself, like jobs or even Ted Talks!

Annemarie Lord

Annemarie Lord is a senior at Chatham High School who will be majoring in Fire Protection Engineering at UNC Charlotte. Annemarie is the Captain of the Chatham Swim Team, Head Coach of a summer swim team, and the Assistant Manager at Colony Pool. Annemarie enjoys the water, and uses it when she’s fighting fires in her free time. Annemarie has been on the Chatham Borough Fire Department for two years. Firefighting has helped her learn how to embrace discomfort.

Carolyn Woods

Carolyn Woods received her B.A. in Psychology from Arizona State University and then went on to earn her M.A. and M.Edu in Deaf Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. She began her teaching career at St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf. Presently, she is an American Sign Language Teacher at Chatham high School and an adjunct professor at MOntclair State University. In her spare time, she loves to travel and has spent time in the United Arab Emirates, Peru, Argentina, Panama and Hawaii. Her favorite activities are spending time with her two adorable children and watching the Steelers play football.

Christina Stuart

Christina Stuart is a senior at Chatham High School and will be attending Catholic University in the Fall for Business. She has been a part of Chatham High School’s Study Abroad Programs and been a member of both the field hockey and softball teams, for all four years. Last year she ran a solo campaign with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which she continues to be involved in. In her spare time you can find her being an active member of the National Art Honor Society, hanging out with friends and family, listening to music or going on walks.

Lilly Arps

Lilly Arps is a sophomore at Chatham High School. As a member of the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams, Lilly is always on the go. In addition to her athletic pursuits, Lilly is passionate about the English and Spanish languages and strives to make an impact on those around her through her writing. When she’s not on a field or court, you can find Lilly curled up with a book or laughing with her family and friends, grateful for quality time with people she loves.

Sophie Maher

Sophie Maher is a senior at Chatham High School, who will enter Sacred Heart University’s College of Health Professions in the Fall. She has been a part of Chatham High School’s Performing Arts and Study Abroad Programs. Sophie is passionate about providing nutrition and dietary based education as well as fighting against food insecurity. In her free time, Sophie loves cooking global cuisines and taking care of her sassy chihuahua Roxy and hamster Toast.
